Giethoorn is a village in the province of Overijssel (also known as the Venice of the Netherlands), with a 7.5 km long canal system throughout the village. The village was discovered around 1230, when those who run accident in the Mediterranean and settled here. All traffic will move over the water and people have to use an electric motor so as not to affect peace in the village space. Many homes are built on the island and its people can only come home together by bridges. There are about 500 small wooden bridge across the canal to a depth of about 1m. Giethoorn currently has about 2620 residents.
